VIN information

I overheard a couple of times in the last month"check for a sticker under the hood" when a customer did not know engine size of their vehicle. This worked in 1975 but is totally useless in modern vehicles. It is embarrassing seeing a customer in the parking lot looking for a "sticker" that we told him he would find under the hood. The proper way is get the 10th character of the VIN on the door or on the dash. The info is available in our e cat ,Weblink, indentifix and if you must use paper it available from most spark plug cat's. Call me and I will show you if you cannot find on your own. Let's look more professional in 2009.

  1. You can also use the actual VIN number and type it into GOOGLE.CA and it will pull the info up in CARFAX with all vehicle info. Also on the rad support and on the intake of most engine of modern car it usually shows the engine size. For the sticker under the hood, if they had a belt or vacuum diagram sticker it will list the engine size there. I always will go out myself and find the information I need rather then asking the customer or have them bring in there ownership!

  2. the only catch is that the 10th digit is the year not the engine size, that would be the 8th digit
