Drive for 5 - FREE FOOD for countermen
Rory has mentioned an ongoing promo - started Sept 15th --- but to the best of my knowledge no one in any of the stores has told me about it - nor did I see it ... but it is posted under PROMOTIONS on the CQ link .... ( side note --remember the Promotions link does NOT flag with a RED NUMBER for unread items -- so we all need to go into this section just in case something has been added .... or .... we could hops that our old link that the Cdn's are stuck with will be replaced with something like the American's have that is a little more up to date .... yet another promise we wait for ....end of RANT
Key issue -- sell a belt and .... a tensions ...or a alternator ... or a water pump ...or a power steering pump ... and do this 5 times ... and you can claim a $15 subway coupon. Note --at least one of the 5 must be a tensioner ---not all can be Alternators ... you get idea ....
I like this idea -- as it is a GREWAT WAY for you to practice looking up parts in LISA ...
Gates Timing Belt Kits with Water Pump
Rory is asking if we want to add into RBR TCK WP ( part # ) --example RBR TCKWP245 for Neon. This is in PNCode ( sub line ) 20 of RBR.
I noticed that SOME kits are a good deal for the incremental cost for the pump and other kits are not - that is -- the kit with pump is less than a timing kit + the water pump ....
I also noticed that these KITS do NOT show up under water pumps ( I have written Brian Wiggs to correct ) but are listed under timing belts .... what a major mistake ?
Also noticed that many ( all ?? ) timing belt KITS have an image that ONLY shows the belt - and missing the images for the extra parts -- wrote Ed Romanoski to see if this can be fixed anytime soon.
Walker RD & Chatham seem to like this - appreciate your comments on what we need to do ( ps - Walker Rd -why so many mistakes - you guys should have spotted these -- )

Worldpac E-Cat in Activant - what a mess
For a CARQUEST jobber still using Activant e-cat - the Worldpac e-cat is a total mess. You don't have to get much pass the WRONG PART NUMBER ( they have two options ) to see this is going no where ...and excessive comments just clutter up the screen and make you have to SCROOL to far down for the next part.
Anyways -- close your Exploris screen and re- enter - and you will get the new settings -- we have moved Worldpac to the SECONDARY page ... and will await a reply from an e-mail sent to Mike Helwig to see if there is an option to make this workable.
Anyone in NexGen e-cat -- wonder when Worldpac will make it to the primary screen and allow us to ORDER ...what a fundamental issue we are missing ... we wait ...and wait ...and wait.
CARDINAL Skid Rate info
There is MUCH Confusion on SKID RATES from Cardinal Courier - lets see if we can clarify.
1) if you ask the WRONG person on shipping issues - you will get goofy answers - ask someone who is the freight specialist ( like CQ or AS Ops Mgr's )
2) if you want something sent via the SKID deal --it is important that the shipper mark SKID on the bill of lading so Cardinal raters know what to do. Skid prices - under the B4 CARQUEST deal is $49.60 for 200 to 500#'s --then you go to the web site ( Click here ) to se e the EXTRA FUEL SURCHARGE and then add taxes. For weights higher than 500#'s --the rates goes approx an extra $10 per each extra 100#s ( see Greg H for exact pennies if you get that close ) The more weight - the cheaper the extra gets ( standard in the freight industry ) --for a LOT of skids you might look at comparing other carriers
3) I think the CARQUEST rate for incoming is less than the Auto Sense rate - our accounts are set for the CQ rate - but should issues change --we can also change. We see our sales rep at Cardinal ( see GH for name )
No DIPSTICK ?
Greg Guyitt mentioned a GREAT NEW PRODUCT from OTC OTC MLR-9336a
- new Chrysler APPROVED Transmission and Transaxle Dip Stick for
vehicles without factory installed Transmission Fluid Dip Sticks. Special Dip Stick
must be used to ensure proper Automatic Transmission Fluid Levels.
Specifically designed for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep® and Volkswagen vehicles with
NAG1, 42RLE, Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT) and 62TE Transaxles.
CARQUEST ( as of 10-18-10 ) does NOT have the part # in their system - but Auto Sense does ( out of stock as one of you bought them all - but will get more ) -- expensive - but that is what it takes until someone like Dorman can figure out the way to make them and avoid any legal issues. -- Good catch Greg.

Carquest Credit Card
The CQ credit card program is now discontinued. All cardholders were to receive a letter advising them that the program was no longer being continued and they were offered a free set of wipers. The customer needs to bring the letter into the store in order to receive their free set of wipers. Please bill the wipers to the store use account and attach the customers letter to the invoice and send it to me, I will handle getting the credit back from the warehouse. If you have any questions please let me know.

Keystone staff meeting
Yesterday held a good and informative staff meeting with Jason from Keystone. Some area's of interest - the older ( non-CARQUEST ) web site has the ad slick builder ( Jason will try to get CARQUEST marketing to OK this on their site ) handy for making a statement stuffer or in-store reminder ( or junk e-mail - but use that with caution ). Other area's of interest were the growing RV products.
Since Keystone is priced in USA dollars then converted to Cdn --we run into the issue of strong currency moves --had the attendees pick their GUESS on the exchange rate at the next staff meeting (the 3rd not the 2nd Monday in Oct due to Thanksgiving) -with prizes and bragging rights to the winners.
name | $1cdn to USA | or $1 US to Canada | |
Ken | $0.982 | $1.018 | |
Matt | $0.976 | $1.025 | |
Shwn | $0.998 | $1.002 | |
Jason | $0.970 | $1.031 | |
Pete | $1.020 | $0.980 | |
Chris | $1.015 | $0.985 | |

WEB LINK 2
We are getting a user account in WEB-LINK2 for the Windsor super store --in case we want to 'play' and learn WEB-LINK2. Remember when we HAD TO USE WL1 to order from Windsor super store when they want Exploris before us ( and we keep J-Con ) --it was a great way to understand what OUR CUSTOMERS SEE when they order from us.
Click on the image - this is what the customer will get for a 45 day test FREE period --and what the costs are ( in USA $ ... but the dollar is getting pretty close right now ). Once we get your stores user name we will tell your store manager -- and he can set up some time to PLAY
PLEASE make sure you see the RED LINKS --- so you see that Labour is different that TIRES on the costs to keep the data ... and try it for your CAR to see how many recalls and FLUID SPEC's ( that is a FREE ONE after the test )

new source for ECU or sensor rebuilding
got a flyer from www.BBA-reman.com -- added the info into Plaxo --if anyone tries them and likes them -- would you tell us at the staff meeting? Ryan has this flyer ( assuming Petes & Auto Barn also got the same flyer )
They rebuild a lot of European ECU & other electronic sensors. We pay via company credit card.
