XRA rotors to change e-cat data -- cross drilled will show

UPDATE - MONDAY July 4 - first data with SR parts failed to include the SUFFIX L or R to indicate the side --we re-sent data and changed the SR numbers without the suffix to show as ... -- USE SUFFIX L OR R --. Sorry for this mistake - should be updated in a few days.

We are updating the XRA ( CMX ) line of rotors and will change from Foster to AIMCO data ... see image attached ( click to enlarge )

The data will be in our system in a few days= at that time the CROSS DRILLED rotors will price and you should find the price to be very attractive

We will also have new sku's updated for newer cars-trucks for the standard econo line of rotors

Transfer Fee

This is just a reminder that when you order items from another warehouse thru the CARQUEST DC that you can be charged a transfer fee. This transfer fee is a per invoice charge not a per item charge. The fee was $2.50 an invoice it is now $3.00 an invoice. Please remember this when billing your customers for freight.

ALTERNATES -- a love hate relationship in EXPLORIS

Alternates should be a wonderful tool in Exploris - but - they are NOT. In fact we would want to caution you from doing TOO many alternates .... primarily since there is no easy report ( well --NO report at all ) to list what is in the system.

With that being said -- we want to remind you ... since you see so few Alternates .... when there is MOPRE than one part linked --watch for the up and down arrows to indicate you can see MORE ... if you scroll.

Why they dropped the box from a very early edition - who knows -- but they did - and we have what we have ...

Try this to see ...CFP-11101 gloss black spray paint

Oh - do you want other problems - with alternates - remember if you have 3 stores - you do this work 3 times ....

Store Copies

To clarify some confusion regarding getting signatures on invoices, this is what should be done.

When a customer is in the store to pickup a part on a charge account the STORE copy needs to be signed and kept for our records. This is the only proof of delivery you have if the customer questions the charge on their account. Most trade accounts do not sign the store copy which so far has not been an issue.

When it comes to mail copies, only those accounts indicated with -------------L should be signed and held here to be sent with the statement. These will be declining in volume as I get more of them switched over to accepting email copies instead.

If you have any questions please let me know.

No ONE JOBBER Knows it all - work in groups ?

A question from Bob at Walker Rd ( Windsor ) - questioning the generic descriptions we get with the new Gen-2 e-cat as used on the invoice ... his question caught me off guard ... both he & I wondered why our stores hadn't spotted the problem ....

DISCLAIMER TIME -- it is summer - we are busier than ...well you know
................................. -- we are getting older and forgetting more than we ever knew

I had sent a copy to Raleigh to find out how such a huge problem can exists .... right then I should have taken a minute and read my standard disclaimer above .... when I asked Ryan why NO other manager replied IF there was a solution ... well -I think he has the same disclaimer ( but he is so much younger )

Anyways --the solution is ..... if you are finally one of many Cdn jobbers scrambling to use and learn the gen-2 e-cat due to a 'threat' ... and your store has the GENERIC parts descriptions .... change the setting as shown in the images attached ... click to enlarge ....

SUMMARY --there are times we feel like RATS in a MAZE with this computer system --we are feed just enough info to identify the smart ones from the stupid ones ... there needs to be a much better way to REMIND us 'semi' smart rats ... of the issues to see if we are up to speed ... where is the constant and continual training? Somehow this system is more complex than we can handle ... how can we get help to smooth out the bumps in the road.... damm ... I just don't know -- but I sure know if I was doing it I would have lots of options....

Look up WorldPac - when you have the time

Needed to check o2 sensor and neutral safety switch on 2001 Maxima anniversary edition 5 speed manual tranny

1) are the listing for the o2 sensors ever NICE on WPC compared to any other e-cat - the descriptions tells you there are 4 sensors - 2 upstream and 2 downstream --and gives you the location -- wow.

2) their e-cat missed the manual tranny ( as far as I could see- sent in message via their forum ) - but compare the price difference on the auto tranny switch - holly cow -- we should double check the item --and it is SIMPLE -- remember that WPC is listed on the secondary page in Gen-2 e-cat ....

Exploris tip

Please watch this video -- so you can spot this problem in the future ....

More WPC ideas showing up in CQ ....

Finally we are seeing more of the 'bright' idea's from WorldPac showing up in CARQUEST --this one is sent in by Matt from D&T - a OEM part number 'place holder' for parts while they await their other supplier to get their data in.

Also of interest - note our X lines show up for this 2006 BMW application ... the XAP is the IAP Dura rotor from Auto Sense ( note - it doesn;t price - which means we didn;t add the part to our ACTIVE data base - but Auto Sense may have it --call ) -- and the XRA is the CMX line we stock -- you have lots of options to make that sale and give your customer the best value for his hard earned dollar.

Thanks Matt for pointing this out. You will see more sub lines ( called PN Codes in Exploris ) for these OEM type parts in various lines.

YOUTUBE -- too bad CARQUEST doesn't get it ?

There is a lot of junk on YOUTUBE - but there is also some really good stuff -- for example I recently added my subscription to the DORMAN PRODUCTS channel on youtube.com

Why does CARQUEST block youtube at the warehouse level ?? Dumb.
